LS1 into RN130

Hi all, Doing a project vehicle. 1990 RN130 4runner. was the home of the mighty 22r but it's out and never going back in. What I'd love to do is put a Holden (GM) LS1 engine with 6 speed manual box. Has anyone over there done this? I'm planning on buying a used engine, strip it, stroke it maybe and ...

Re: RN130 with 22R

Hi, mcw, the 22r is carby and the 22re is efi here. interesting if they never introduced the 22re there. most 22 engines here are efi hence my difficulties in finding a similar vehicle here. Plus I don't live anywhere near a city. Mud Dog, I've got them, but they're not the same as my toy. Mine's a ...

RN130 with 22R

Hi,
can someone who has an rn130 running a 22r please take some pictures of the vacuum hose set up?
I have some vacuum issues and can't understand the diagram properly.
Oh, yeah, can you also post them here or e-mail me directly if easier and allowed.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers

RN130 4runner issue

Hi all, My toy has started to do something wierd. starts first go, idles for as long as I want without issue, then we go forward. all good for a few hundred metres, then it "stalls" for half a second then continues for a bit, then "stalls"... By stalls, my best way to describe it...

RN130R add query

Greetings all. My YN63 finally died after hitting several trees, a cliff face and the bottom of the cliff. So I bought an RN130R with automatic disconnecting differential. But she has a problem. When I push the 2/4 wd selector switch, no dash light. I can clearly hear a click where the add control b...

22r in 1990 4runner electrical questions

Hi all, Recently bought a 1990 ssr 4runner with a 22r motor. Pretty sure I need a new alternator, but asking first. 2 weeks ago, had a rotten egg smell come from the car. got the battery tested at my auto shop, and it said bad-replace, so I did. i've done about a thousand or so km's since. Last nigh...

4y upgrade

Hi again all. As per my last post, my 4runner is about to go into my workshop for some big time, or medium time work. It currently runs a not so massive 4y with all of 73kw of power. Laws in Australia allow me to go a 26% power increase. That's it. So can anyone recommend an engine that will bolt st...

Re: Help with aftermarket Air Conditioning in Hilux 4Runner?

I recently installed air into my 85 4runner yn63. Now I wish that I had just had a specialist do it for me in the first place. After several problems, I ended up paying more for him to fix it than he would have charged me to put it all in properly. If sourcing yourself, that is where the big problem...

Power Steering questions.

Hi all, I've got a question. I've got power steering on an ln60 that is never going to run again. My mate has no power steering, but his steer box isn't power. Mine is an ssr surf 1986 and he has a hilux dual cab 1986 without torsion suspension so his steer box linkage goes towards the front drivers...

Push-rods?? 4Y has hydraulic tappets. :eh: the metal rods that push them up (tappets) and allow the spring to close them (valves). sorry if i have used the wrong term as i'm not as knowledgable about engines as most of you are. the lawnmower sound has gone now, but i have a knocking/ticking sound a...

Re: 4y-c

Having the head checked for cracks and then machined. the engineer advised me to replace push rods as he measured them and the inlet ones for 3 and 4 were just a bit warped. hopefully this will fix the problem and i'll be able to get it on the road this weekend. oops, i meant off road!!!!!

4y-c

Hi everyone. I just bought a 1985 4runner with a 4y motor and a blown head gasket.
Had no problems changing the gasket but now my toy sounds like a lawnmower.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I can't find a service manual for a 4y engine anywhere and thought i'd ask here.
