Re: Overlanding Condor

A local tour operator uses mostly Condors and one or two old Landy's to take tourists up Sani Pass (not that Sani Pass is very challenging anymore, but they have been in user for quite a few years)

Re: Moving from 2.7 to diesel.. Is it worth it?

Thank you for all the answers guys!

It has been the reasoning that has kept me from making any rash decisions; but seeing so many others in the same boat making the decision to swap made me wonder...

I am looking at a little Honda XR125 for the small trips to the shops etc.

Moving from 2.7 to diesel.. Is it worth it?

Over the past 12 months or so I have seen several members selling their 2.7's and going to diesel. I have had my bakkie for 18 months now - bought off the fourm - and I have been really happy with it. Of course I am comparing maintenance having come from a Defender Tdi; so I have been amazed how rel...

Re: 99 IFS 2.7: Diff lock light comes on

Hi all,

Just some feedback on this.

It seems to have been a short on one of the wires near the diff. Will still keep an eye out on it.

Thanks again for all the feedback.

Re: 99 IFS 2.7: Diff lock light comes on

Breather pipe checked - clear; previous owner extended to near the petrol filler cap.

I was fairly confident that the diff is not actually locked up; but im not entirely sure anymore.

Any other ideas?

Re: 99 IFS 2.7: Diff lock light comes on

Thanks for your reply.

Called the mechanic in Durban, he also reckons it is quite likely that the breather is blocked.

99 IFS 2.7: Diff lock light comes on

Hi All, I have a very strange problem. As I am driving the red diff lock light comes on as well as the ABS light. It has been doing it for the last week, happens on gravel and tar. Sometimes comes on very dull and then get progressively brighter. I have already pulled the 20A 4WD fuse, and toggling ...

2.7 (3RZ) Overheating

Hi All, Normally my temp gauge does not move. Went up Sani Pass yesterday morning. At the bottom I noticed the air from cabin fan was warmer than usual. By the time we were up at the last few turns; the gauge quickly rose to just over 3/4. I turned the heater up to bring the temp down to just above ...

Re: From Landy to Lux; Hello Everyone

Thanks again guys!

Danman, anything I will miss apart from the good fuel consumption?

How are the 2.7's on service costs?

Re: From Landy to Lux; Hello Everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome!

That is one thing I am worried about - the fuel consumption - but I am hoping with lower running costs this evens out.
I have spent about R50000 in the last 3 years getting the landy in the condition it's in.

Re: From Landy to Lux; Hello Everyone

hehe I have! that is no comparison.

But it's nice for the back passengers to sit forward and not sideways. Also safer. If I could get a nice 5 door landy, I would not hesitate.
