Re: Bushtech canopy

I suspect it is very unique, I have only seen an african outback one in over a year here in Kenya, I suspect the 55% import tax and VAT stop most people, it took almost a month from being collected in J'burg before it arrived at my house in Kenya.

Re: Load tray storage build

I am thinking about slotted rails mounted to the load tray base so I could re-configure as required, it seems the most adaptable solution, also means I can secure heavy loads in the tray if I also get some load rings that slot in. Just need to see if I can find any here in Nanyuki. http://img.tapata...

Re: Load tray storage build

Also the longest sliders I can get delivered here would be 900mm, so they wouldn't be long enough anyway.

Re: Load tray storage build

Access to the back box will be through a hinged lid on the top, it will contain a water tank and battery and bed rolls so will not be opened too often, because I wanted a modular system I had to sacrifice easy access to the back box.

Load tray storage build

So today I started my (basic) load tray storage build, I got some guys at the side of the road to do the welding for me as engineering firms are in short supply where I am located. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/28/8ega8amu.jpg I have used 1" steel square bar, which is much lighter than I expe...

Re: Alu Cab in Kenya

Update - Finally bit the bullet and ordered a BushTech canopy last week after suffering with a god ugly fibreglass canopy for the last 9 months, now just the pain of Kenyan customs to contend with, with any luck it should arrive on a couple of weeks. Obviously I couldn't visit the factory so I had t...

Re: For no reason what-so-ever...

We do Medevac for British Army training in Kenya, also clear the big 5 animals off the ranges before live firing takes place. Your right about it not being a UH-1, it is a Bell 212, a twin engines, slightly larger bodied version, very old but perfect for Africa.

For no reason what-so-ever...

I thought I might share some pictures from work taken over the last couple of months, most are from the Samburu area of Kenya as that's where I spend most of the time, few others from Nairobi. Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/27/uhepyry...

Re: Great looking seat covers....

I think we paid about R 3000 for the Hilux DC ones, worth every penny though, they come in a sweet canvas and leather safari bag which I gave to my wife to keep her happy, she uses it for a beach bag, it is very well made.

Re: Great looking seat covers....

Old thread but it warrants a reply, I have had Captivi covers on our hilux for about 9 months now, they are really great, time consuming to fit but look incredible when fitted, we get nothing but compliments.

Alu Cab in Kenya

Hi guys, After hours trawling through the internet on possibly the slowest connection on earth I have given up trying to find a distributor for AluCab in Kenya, I was after one for my 2013 Hilux, does anyone have an inside scoop on if one even exists? If not, looks like I am going to go in the compl...

Hello from Kenya

Hi all, After having just bought my first ever Hilux (2013 double cab pick up) I thought I should introduce myself after having lurked on this forum for long enough. I am a helicopter pilot in the British Army based up here in Kenya, my wife is an expat South Africian who has been living with me in ...
