Re: Any clever guys out there!

Hey Obelix..no Toyota only gave me the code, I was with the tech we he plugged it in, I just wanted to see if my OB2 was working and my program was same as Toyota...they can "try" find the problem and give you a rough idea of what needs to be fixed but that cost R900 for the quote and anal...

Re: Any clever guys out there!

HI Guys...still not resolved...it went away for ages and now the last few days the engine light is back with codeP0606 again but is coming on more frequent. Took it to toyota to check that i was getting the same code and they too got the P0606. I am still convinced its the O2 sensor which is either ...

Re: V6 starter problems

First check basics...always check basics: Key- try the spare- could be a chip issue Current- when you first turn key see if there is voltage drop on cranking battery. If not then there is no pull on ignition side. If yes then maybe very sticky starter Earth - clean and solid-properly connected Batte...

I have a similar issue, also 4L V6. Its a clunking on the drivers side mostly, you can hear more than you can feel it , best p[lace to hear it is drive up on a shallow pavement at a angle you will hear it clunk. Looked at all shocks and tighten all bolts...still need to check shock mounts/rubbers whe...

Re: How to adjust the idle on Hilux v6 4.0?

seems i can't fins a manual way of adjusting the idle - which is understanding. As it is controlled by the ECU.
Cleaned , throttle body, MAF sensor and made sure all vacuum hoses are not cracked and fitted properly...disconnected neg terminal for 30min.
Drove around warm engine idling at about 750rpm

Re: How to adjust the idle on Hilux v6 4.0?

Thanks James... i was worried about such things but after doing some googling on the 1grfe engine lots of guys were running 550-650rpm...seems low. Just lekka for hill decent.
Will keep a eye on my idling cause it does move around a bit..especially after doing cleaning my throttle body.

How to adjust the idle on Hilux v6 4.0?

Hi Guys Anybody know-if possible- to adjust the idle on the 1 grfe engine? I know its automatic and controlled with vacuum pipes, throttle body, MAF and the ECU but is there anyway to mechanically adjust this. Not sure who chipped it as i bought the car chipped and the previous owner didn't even know it was chipped :) Want to put it on the dyno to see what the KW are anyway and see if the chip is even worth having as I was told the chipped v6 don't gain much power only 5-6kw so if tha...

Re: Any clever guys out there!

FYI...for the other guys with V6 4.0 Some 2005 – 2007 model year Tacoma vehicles equipped with a 1GR–FE engine may exhibit an intermittent “no start” condition. Improvements have been made to the Engine Control Module/ECM (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) calibration to reduce the possibilit...

Perfect...thanks guys. Thanks Quentin, I have the manual and the code but the P0606 just gave me a broad spectrum fault report. Maybe im reading it wrong. It is the 1GRFE engine. Thanks Wayne - appreciate the in depth report. Looks like I am going to have to visit Toyota for this one...Maybe. Or may...
