Yes, I would agree, but the trip moniter was reset before we went up SANI Pass at Himeville and checked when we got home in Durban, this 12.7 was for a round trip, not just the down hill part.Haboob wrote:Coming down the Lesotho Highlands could give you 12,7 , which will not improve on your trip up.

Re: Service versus fuel consumption
Do any of you have your vehicles serviced? Surely you do and therefor must have some sort of opinion, either you have noticed a change or you haven't.
Your feedback will tell me if something was done to my vehicle which has affected the performance, or it is normal and will improve in time.

Service versus fuel consumption
Not so long ago on a different post, I mentioned that on a recent rip to Lesotho and going back to Durban via golden gate and sterkfontein dam, my fuel consumption read out on the computer was 12.7km/l. The computer was reset at Himeville just before we did all the 4x4 stuff up Sani Pass and the rou...

Does it do it with a load on the back, if not, then it indicates that the vehicles is too light in the bin area. I f it still does it with a load on the back, then you need to sort out your suspension.

Some tech dives on the wrecks off durban laying at 65 - 75 meters. I have done instructors courses, specialty courses and Tri-Mix courses, so take small steps before trying anything stupid like we do. Enjoy the fun of the 30m dives, they are less stressfull. RAW Suspension kit (RAW 4X4)
Have any of you heard or got any feedback on the RAW systems, I believe they have been going for a long time in Australie and surpassed the OME systems in quite a few countries.
Got quoted on a suspension system for my hilux d/cad 4x4 at just under R14000-00

Re: NAM trip in June - border questions
We crossed the border at Sendlingsdrift on the pont, we had more questions from the S.A. border officials than in Namibia. On their side we filled in the documents with no problem, paid the road tax which you must have on you at all times. the only time we saw Nam police was just outside the border ...

Is this a 4x4 course or is it as the heading states " recovery training". Do they get stuck so often that they have to have training to recover their vehicles?

The 2wd with diff-loc only battled near the top on the loose rocks. Lost a coolerbox full of Castle Lite's on the way up, every bottle in the cooler broke. Wouldn't recommend trying it in 2wd as if you get stuck, there is no help on hand. T I agree, not worth the risk if you are going to loose your...

Hi Jacques, Even with the filter being 'dirty' before reaching Sani Pass, my vehicle still averaged 12.7 km per litre from Durban to Oxbow and home via golden gate. According to the dealer, the light will come on and flash if the filter has water in it, and if the light stays on without flashing, the filter is dirty and needs to be replaced. the computer picks up that the there is a difference in the in and out pressure and activates the light.
