Re: Advice on 87 Hilux for Africa trip
Hi Scotty I agree with what Piet and Bennie wrote. Regarding the cam issue. I did mine a while back. I was promised more power and better fuel efficiency. What happened is that my torque was moved up to the higher revs. I lost some low end torque. Which I think is essential for offroading.I am going...

Re: Be aware when you use or work with Silicone Sealer
While we where in Nam I replaced my fuel pump.I got a gasket with the new pump, but when I removed the old pump there was about a 1,5 cm spacer inbetween. On the one side was the gasket and the other side we used Gemkem. There is no oil leaking out their. So guess Gemkem is not to bad for emergencies.

Hi Piet
Have a look at F_D's toys.His got a picture there.viewtopic.php?f=2&t=77&start=0
They are transparent and you keep them on when using.I think it is a very clever idea.
You buy then seperatly at Midas. They go for R98.50 each.

One of the things that all Africans are good at is to make a plan. For instance his expensive aluminum roof ra...

What do you think of this?

I personally do not like the sand ladder ideas.Unless you can use it for something else also.

When I used to work on a farm we had 2 Hilux's 4x2.We did not require much 4x4.Only when it rain.Than we used the tractors. What I missed was the lowrange.Very usefull in the fields when pulling trailors or climbing up a mountain with a load. Thus if I was still a farmer I would consider installing ...
