Tata Xenon
I am currently driving the new Tata Xenon 2.2L, and I must say, I am thrilled with its performance. For such an affordable vehicle, I did not think that I would get the kind of space and comfort that I am now enjoying. All the features on the vehicle have been improved, and both the power and torque are forces to be reckoned with. I am enjoying the reduced fuel consumption of this newer model!

Re: Tata Xenon
Hi Lance, welcome to the forum... the xenon is one of the better looking 'in-expensive' bakkie options... is the 2.2L a petrol or diesel?

Hi Lance and welcome! You must excuse some of the guys if their comments are less than complimentary, but this is after all a Hilux forum with some real die-hard Hilux fans (me included ). The Lux has a pedigree that has been built up over 4 decades of production and reliable service, .... the relatively new Tata has yet to prove it's mettle or lack thereof.
So bear with us and enjoy the vehicle as well as this forum. Maybe you will be so lucky that we persuade you to trade it in for a Lux at some point down the line!
P.S. Feel free to post some pics of the Xenon in the meantime!

Could also be that I'm being devious .... first get Lance comfortable with us and hooked on the forum, ... and then stomp on his Tata till he buys a Lux!F_D wrote:Andy, you are so diplomatic!

Hi all!
Thanks for the greetings! As far as I know I do not work for Tata?! :)
It is a diesel! So far so good, have been very happy with it, although haven't done any MAJOR off road missions just yet!

Re: Tata Xenon
a few years ago, the trnsport manager at work told me he was looking into buying a fleet of telcoline bakkies.
apparently the bakkie costs R115 000, and a new engine R95 000.
now this was a few yrs ago and i might have misunderstood.
but is it really this bad ?
That Xenon does look the part.
I hope, ter wille van kompetisie (english phrase ??) , that this tata is a vast improvement on the telcoline, and that you not just paying for better looks. The single cab still looks rediculous though with that short bak. I wrote them a few times suggestion no hard working oke can fully exploit the potential of the workhorse with such a short bak ... a well... guess nobody answers constructive criticism in this world

Re: Tata Xenon
Lance.
I recently attended an outdoor evening at Outdoor Warehouse where the Xenon was displayed. Looks decently built (and YES looks 100 times better than a Telcoline!!), I just have one concern. The one on show, had its ECU unit stuck in the engine bay?! Not good if water crossing is part of your 4x4 excursions?? Maybe some of the other folk can cast light on this??
That said, may you enjoy your Tata 110%
