3C Toyota engine fuel consumption

Post by Toppie »

My Mitshibushi L300 motorhome achieved a remarkable 3.5km/l from Rustenburg to BelaBela(Warmbad) and back. (Almost R1k for the trip)
I will install a 3C toyota motor with turbo charger tomorrow. What can I failry expect my fuel consumption to be

Hi,

I have a 3C-T fitted in my 'Lux
I don't know what your vehicle weighs in at but my Hilux 4x4 double cab
gets 10-11km/litre (sometimes 12km/litre if I behave)
that is a mixture of town and open road.
on the freeway I mostly cruise 120km but can get up to 150kph if I want to.

just bought a mitsubishi top mount intercooler from the scrapyard
and I plan on fitting it and a 76mm exhaust and tuning the motor some more.

only issue I have is that for the life of me I can't get the thermostat to open, so I need to run without one which means it takes forever before you can use the heater in winter.

good luck

Rick

The motorhome weighs around 1800kg, but is very unstable in the wind due to the large surface area.

It is unsafe to drive faster than 100km/h
My next project will be to sort out the suspension to make it more stable.

I'm sure at 100km/h you will get great fuel consumption.

good luck with the suspension, a motorhome laying on its side is no good to anyone

hi Rick, not bad if you can get up to 150km/h. My bro's battled on the up hills to maintain 100km

Hi Muz,

for whatever reason my 3C-T goes like a bomb!
I have posted this pic before but here goes...
Hilux 150kmh.jpg
granted, it was down hill but it was no mineshaft.
I am running H/T tyres though in standard size so maybe that helps.
I could have gone faster but my rev counter wasn't working at that stage and I was worried about over reving her.

my speedo does slightly overread but not much speedo:120 GPS: 118

Hello Rick.. Iam also thinking very hard to fit a 3ct to my lux. Are you still happy with the conversion? and dod the intercooler help with performance? do have enough overtaking power and do you need to gear down on hills? and lastly when cruising at 120 what revs are you running?

thanx
