Platkar?
Ek kry hom bietjie later vandag.

Re: Platkar?
those things are more fun then 4x4s!!!
before the 4x4 days we used to go away with a friends combi, and we used to be between 8 - 9 people, once at sodwana bay, combi would be parked, and we would all find a place either in or on the Beech Buggy, and we would go every where with that!!
when stuck we would jump off lift it and place it out the hole and as it moved we would all jump back in or on it, depending on what place we had picked for the weekend!!
Beech Buggy was towed behind the combi and also used as extra packing space!!
just jolted some memories!!
thanx!!

Re: Platkar?
I still have almost the exact same model (rotting away in my yard at the moment) .... also has a 160 twin port motor (removed and in storage). That thing used to stand on the rear wheels in 3rd gear! Eventually made some big lead castings and fitted them to the front. Loads of fun and power to boot. (I should actually restore it, but too lazy to tackle it. )
What makes them so effective in sand is that they're rear engined ... with the weight at the back the front doesn't bed down and doesn't have to push a 'walletjie' in front of the wheels. It tends to compact the sand a little and then the rear wheels have an easier task getting through.
