Triton

I want to raise my Triton especially the wheel ground clearance. I have found it to be low when doing level 4 or 5 rocky trails. Any suggestions?

The toyota hilux 4L petrol 4x4 models double cabs are only made with automatic gear boxes, this is not a good idea if you are doing steep rocky descents, especially if their are a lot of marbles and the road is narrow.

Strange, when they made the 4.0 manual, everyone wanted an auto, now that they have the auto, everyone wants the man.....

Any reason why you don't look at he 3.0 d4d man?

Jeepers I'd love an Automatic Gear Box (might help me climb a baby sand dune or two  )

Hi guys
Have put on 17" rims with 265/70 Birdgestone A/T tyres. It has lifted the ground clearnace of the wishbones in front from 210mm to 240mm. Just for your information.

That would have been the obvious first step, but what is the clearance like between the wheels and body on turns and articulation?
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Their is no problem with articulation at all. The wheel arches are quite big so taking sharp turns is no problem. It is actually even more stable on the road at high speeds 150km/h and somehow seems to improve the centre of gravity.

The overall height of the vehicle is now slightly higher, therefore the COG will be slightly higher (poorer) as well. Not that it's critical, but it will certainly not be improved even if the bigger wheels give you a sense of better footing.
