Question on ORRA callsign

Post by Polarbear2008 »

I received my ORRA licence today,

And I am a bit confused as there are 2 callsigns on the card:

Club Callsign: X49 and above it 29mhz - ZRF430?

From the letter attached, it seems to indicate that one should use the X49 as your callsign, but what is the use of the other one then?

Any help would be appreciated! Eric please help!

Hi,
I stand to be corrected, but Xray49 will be your call sign and ZRF430 is your licence number for the 29MHz unit.

Off-road Radio Association, a service focus group of the AAWDC (Association of All Wheel Drive Clubs), who (inter alia) issues radio licenses (with callsigns) on behalf of ICASA to members (like you and me) of clubs (like the Hilux club - not the Hilux forum) belonging to the AAWDC.

ORRA - "Off Road Radio Association"

The Hilux Club is a member of ORRA, which means that its members can now use a VHF or 29MHz radio by taking out a licence for same from ORRA.

See here: ORRA
