Kirisun PT 8000 and PT4200

Post by pietpetoors »

I have a Kirisun PT8000 mobile and PT4200 handheld which I obtained from Eric .

This weekend at Boegoeberg I was yet again impressed with its performance. I gave my handheld radio to Louis who was the leading vehicle. Thys also had a VHF in his vehicle. The area at Boegoeberg is very steep up and downs.

All through the trip I had crystal clear reception even if the guys on the 29Meg could not find each other anymore.

What impressed me even more was that while we were on route I heard two guys in Lamberts Bay who got lost. As the crow flies LamberstBay must be at least 40km from Boegoeberg. These guys found their way and I still listened to their conversation until they reached Velddrif and stopped at the Engen for a pit stop. I still have to look on Google earth how far that is on a straight line, but if you go by road Velddrif is about 120km from Boegoeberg

The handheld's battery lasted the whole weekend.

Yes Pieter, with my Kenwood I also listened to the guys from Lambertsbaai, and I must say after being used to the squeaky sounds of a 29mHz radio for such a long time the VHF was really a treat. Thanks Eric, the radio works great.

By the way, halfway thru the trail my 29 gave up the ghost, so Pieter, Louis and myself ended up chatting on the VHF. The handheld also came thru crystal clear.  Definitely money well spent.

George, you can make one up with a fused cigarette lighter, some thin twin flex cable (the black/white works well) and a DC socket - IIRC it's 2.1mm. This then plugs 12v DC from your car battery directly into the charger pocket. Works well!

George, check your email address.

You will require an ORRA licence. For that, you have to join the Hiux4x4 Club, which is affiliated to ORRA. Refer the tag at the top of the page "Join the Club".

My Kirisun is heeltemal serviceable.

Kirisun of nie....

Kirisun PT4200 16 kanaal VHF handradio @ R1295.
Motorola CP040 4-kanaal handradio @ R1800.
Tait Orca.... well over R2000!

Ons hanteer Motorola, Kenwood, Vertex, QD, Kirisun, Icom & HYT produkte, so wel as Tait produkte.

Jarus, specwise is altwee radios presies dieselfde.

Dankie Eric, ek waardeer.

Laat weet enige tyd as jy weer aan so iets wil kyk.
