When I connect my Benton Charger BX-2 to the batteries it says it is full. I left it on for the rest of the day and night and it still indicates full.
I removed it and connected my normal charger and the normal charger charges at 4 amps. I left it on a while thinking it would come down quickly. It took just over 4 hours to come down to a trickle.
Why does the Benton indicate fully charged and my normal charger not.
Anyone have similar experiance or an explanation.

Re: Benton BX - 2 Charger versus normal charger:
Barry, 90% of these sort of problems are caused by iffy connections, either at the battery itself or even the connector on the Benton plug. Your charger is still relatively new so unlikely, but check these points anyway.Could you possibly measure the DC voltage...
1. Before connecting the Benton to the battery, and
2. With the Benton connected to the battery.
The Benton would measure the state of the battery before deciding on a charge mode while a normal charger will just charge, irrespective of the condition of the battery. I find it odd that it did so for four hours though.
Please try the BX-2 on another battery and report the results.

Re: Benton BX - 2 Charger versus normal charger:
I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago. The battery I wanted to charge was still installed in the vehicle. The Benton immediately blinked the green "Full" light. I knew this couldnt be true, so I disconnected both + and - poles of the battery, and re-attached the Benton. Problem solved. As Eric said, it was probably an iffy connection.
Left the Benton on the battery over night, and the next morning the green light was on. Reconnected the battery, and the Ford started first time..
