VHF radios are now more cost effective than 29Mhz and the reliable operating range is considerably better.

Remote-mount radios is BAIE pricey! So R7k - R8k plus.

PM jou epos besonderhede vir my as jy pryse wil he.

:slap:

vhf is net soveel beter !!

You should buy the same as the people that you travel with. Although VHF is the new way all your friend might still have AM so if you got VHF you would not be able to talk to them.

This very same issue is even more of a problem with the Ski Boats where most of the older are AM but now most of the Ports want VHF. All ur fishing buddy's have AM. On the boats you now find that a lot of them have both but they do have more space.

My advice is to get the same as your group.

VHF no matter what they have they will have to change to vhf, jusft a matter of time. Like cameras going digital. Best person to give you advice is Eric (Family Dog).
God luck with your choice.

TECHNICALLY we all know we need to switch over to vhf, it is simply a better system (I have both and KNOW how much better the vhf is)

the SAD reality is that if this gent wants to ride with any of the established clubs in the Western Cape (well 90% of the clubs), then he WILL need 29mhz ....

Frankly for these outings RENT the 29mhz from the club ... :)

Yep, it is years since we last sold any 29MHz to CT members. All have been VHF radios over the past seven years or so.

Now here's the thing: We have one GME GX300 29MHz in stock, ex a deceased estate but in "as new" condition. Normal SP is R2150, this is R1200, excluding Antenna. We have magnetic antennas available for it as well as a body-mount antenna, at R390 or R580 respectively. First come - first served. Courier delivery to main centres at R85.00.
