Some of you know that Allan (Hoppy) has split up AEW Auto into hiluxparts.co.za and 4xLux. Some asked or wondered if the amazing service and increadible technical know how will stay...

Well after a nearly complete overhaul of my KZ-TE. I can with confidence say yes. Francois Engelbrecht is now in charge of the workshop. He was one of Allan's apprentices a while back and knows what he is doing.

After taking off the head and replacing my leaking head gasket in June 2013, I discovered that piston no 4 is too deep in the block. A bent conrod was suspected. Looking back at the documents i got from the previous owner I discovered a pressure test diagram clearly showing a problem on no 4. If only I knew what that little diagram meant when I bought the vehicle. Funds and time prevented me from fixing the problem in June 2013. Beginning of Jan I decided its time to fix this problem. Called Allan, explained the problem and he simply said bring it tomorrow we have conrods in stock :yahoo:

While everything is out and open we decided to do rings and big end bearings too. Head was checked again :beg: , still perfect :celebrate: .

Four days later and a new left rear bearing and seal, a certain other workshop did a botched job on it and the side shaft seal was sitting the collar, I picked up a smooth running kz-te.

Rings still need to bed in but the motor is noticeably smoother.

A few other things still need to be done. (Allan is making a custom turbo downpipe for me :drool: )

Ekt al baie goeie woorde van daai man gehoor van sy diens ens. Dis baie goed om te weet dat daar iemand is wat na Hilux'e ens. kan kyk. As ek weer 'n SFA Hilux kry sal ek beslis van sy dienste gebruik maak, al hoe wel ek van PE is. Ek hoor hy doen ook "conversions" van 4y carb na EFi.....

Hoppy, hou so aan!

Maak asb. 'n tak oop in PE asb. Die wind is nie so erg hier nie :blushing:

George, die standaard down pipe op die kz maak 'n 90 en dan weer 'n 90 bend net soos dit by die turbo uit kom. So daardie gasse hardloop reguit in 'n muur vas sonder ordentlike rondings. Dan net na dit gedraai het moet dit dieselfde weer doen. Die nouste deel van hierdie S bend afere is so 25-30mm in diameter. So jy kan vir jou 'n 63mm free flow stelsel opsit, maar jou restriction lê net agter die turbo. En ek reken hoe makliker jy die turbo laat werk hoe minder wear het hy en krag vat jy by die engin weg. En dan boost hy ook beter laer. Allan is besig om 'n paar aanmekaar te laat sit. Dink Luxter en sy dag tot dag kz gaan ook een kry. Die ouens op pradopoint.com het al daaroor gesels. Soek net vir 3" turbo down pipe.

Sal 'n thread opmaak as ek myne kry.

Hopster ek soek dieselfe met die freeflow.So maak maar dubbel.

Ek wil nog my Snorkel/Airbox ook doen.Het klaar daai stukkie metaal uit die box gehaal.Nog net pyp kry en die boks draai.
