3.0 d4d vs 4.0 v6 150 prado

Good day guys
I know I previously posted a similar question
I'm still stuck really don't know which to get
Is the d4d slightly low on power for vehicles it's size and will services be more costly, but I'll get better consumption
Or the v6 better as it has more power also I'd it that heavy on petrol, no eco mode...
And best consumption u guys got on it

How many kilometers will you be doing with it ?

Daily driver, with the occasional trip : D-4D

Mostly just the holiday runs : V6 !!!!

You wont get much better than 9km/l on the D-4D. You will probably average 6 km/l on the V6 .. depending on the weight of your right foot ..., some do claim to get 7km/l.

Those 6kms a day are the killer, especially if it is in town.

NOPE.

the fuel difference over those few kilometers wont make any difference to your monthly fuel bill.


And for the longer runs the V6 will be as light as your right foot ....


For what you describe I would certainly go for the PETROL

Also it's harder to find d4d there is more petrol options and I guess service is higher on the diesel

Make your sums...........

V6 is, say, 2 km/litre heavier than the D4D. The V6 is bot that heavy, as in 5/6, and the D4D Prado is not that light, as in 9/10.

Ant that's the only negative.....D4D is :

1) Lazier
2) More expensive to service
3) More expensive to fix
4) It had an issue with the gearbox overheating........Google and see
5) Lower towing capacity (Toyota SA actually sent out a bulletin on this, see 4 above)
6) Diesel's selling price will be more than the V6..........by the tme you drove out that difference, the D4D's maintenance/repair costs will be more than the V6's, anyway.

In a nutshell - if I bought new, ten yes, maybe the D4D.

If used, V6 - in a heartbeat. They're stunning cars.

Go drive both, and decide. But the V6 is a nice car. Nice engine, nice gearbox = nice 4x4.

They're hevy(ish), yes - but if we both start and drive to CT and back, with the V6 following the Diesel at the Diesel's speed, there's not THAT much of a difference. Google and see for yourself.

IF for some reason you do get the D4D, just remember to make sure u=it has the upgrade doen by TSA on that gearbox. Something to do with the box overhating when towing. They fitted an oil cooler I think, and TSA lowered the towing capacity specs on the Diesel.

There is, of course, also the 200 Petrol V8.......I had 2, consumption on those beauties were more than 6. Stunning cars, they're like a S500 that can do an offroad trail.

I've got you searching for your Grand Pa's now I think...........
