Dylan, African Offroad Academy does have accredited instructors in your area that will present the course to you. Please drop Tinus Botha (tinus@africanoffroad.co.za) an email and he will put you in touch with the guys in the Eastern Cape/Border area. You can tell him I sent you...

Thys wat is die kostes op so kursus?

Die koste beloop tans R1500 per persoon vir die kursus.

Ongelukkig kan ek net namens African Offroad (Weskaap) gesels, maar ons is ook bereid om Hilux4x4-klublede 'n groepafslag te gee in die Weskaap, as ons 'n groot genoeg groep bymekaar kan kry.

Ons sal ook opleiding aanbied in die meer afgelee gebiede van die Weskaap solank die groep groot genoeg is sodat ons ten minste die reiskoste en ander uitgawes te dek.

Tot dusver het African Offroad Academy (Weskaap) 12 lede van die Hilux4x4 Forum/Club in die Weskaap ge-akkrediteer.

Hallo Thys, ek is ook al lankal op die forum geregistreer, so jy kan nog een bytel.
In elk geval, dankie van my kant af ook vir die kursus en jul tyd.

Sienjy!! Jy het niks eers gese die naweek nie... Nou maar toe, dan staan ons op 'n gelukkige 13 Forum Lede in die Weskaap. Geluk vir jou ook Pieter.

And so the list grows. Another 2 Hilux4x4 members became accredited drivers on the weekend. Congratulations to Gerrie van Eeden and Boetie Potgieter (truckin) for achieving this milestone. Thanks for attending our training and for a great weekend of learning.

I must say that our platkar trail (2 Oceans) is getting more and more challenging as time goes by. It seems like Wimpie is not spending a lot of time on track maintenance, and with recent veld fires burning all the vegetation there will be some serious soil erosion when the big rains come. We had some fun yesterday!

Dankie ouens, dit was regtig die baie insiggewend, en lekker, ek moet se ek het vir Thys die eerste dag gevra, wat hy my kan leer, en ek het baie geleer, 'veral wa my yaw sensor sit' , en Thys ek wil vir jou en Dirk en Anton baie dankie se, julle is bobaas instrukteurs, en vir die manne wat nognie training gedoen het nie julle kan maar almal na Thys toe gaan, dis regtig die moeitewerd

Van Vryheid se geweste wil ek ook net vir Bushwacker - Piet baie geluk sê met die suksesvolle afhandeling van sy Offroad kurses, welkom by die African Offroad Academy familie..

In the Joburg area, which is the best offroad training academy and what qualification should a beginner go for? I looked on the African offroad academy website and there are numerous qualifications that one can get.

All you guys that are not yet qualified. I suggest that you get qualified before the legislation comes into effect. It will only become more expensive and difficult once the legislation has been passed.

Lets get together and do this thing.

The main thing you should look out for is whether the training institution where you are going to spend your hard earned money, is TETA accredited to train Unit Standard 254135 - Apply the techniques for operating four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, in on-road and off-road conditions, or not. This unit standard is the one that is the minimum requirement, according to the Draft Norms & Standards as they stand.

The Advanced unit standard (US254154) can only be done once you were found competent in the entry level US254135.

There are currently only 2 TETA accredited Training Service Providers in South Africa, of which African Offroad Academy is one. Contact Tinus Botha at AOA and he'll put you in contact with a training facilitator in your area.

Thanks all! Thanks Thys & Anton for facilitation of the sessions! Was a very interesting & fun experience! I can recommend this training for anyone wanting to gain more in depth knowledge around 4x4s and the industry...and of course the practical side ROCKED!!! :D Can't wait to show off my driver registration number !!!! :D

Thanks Thys and Anton. Like Estiaan luuuuuved the practicals You guys taught us well and am really looking forward to my trip to Richterveld and Namkwa National and Coastal park next week. Proudly displaying my africa offroad sticker on my Hilux.

Congrats guys

We took these two and a bunch of African Offroaders to Atlantis last weekend, and both of them made us proud. Specially Val, she started out all nervous and stuff, but by the end of the day she was gooi-ing her 2.4 SFA Hilux up the dunes like a pro, holding her own with the "manne"!! We done guys!!
