4x4 Training

Post by Samurai »

Good day,

I have had my Lux for almost 2 years and have never been offroad as yet! :slap: This is mainly due to me working out of SA, but now I have changed jobs and my rotations are a lot better giving me more free time at home.

In 2005 I did a basic 4x4 training course with Land Rover  , but I really think I need to start at the bottom again, build up confidence and get to know my Lux and her capabilities before I venture into the unknown.

I have been looking at a couple of websites and was thinking of doing the Basic 4x4 Training offered by Safari Centre. Just going on the information provided on their website, as well as their fitment centres I have visited, they seem quite alright.

At a later stage, I would also like to do their 4x4 Driver Training - Introductory Level 1 - Unit Standard 254135 and their 4x4 Driver Training - Advanced Level 2 – Unit Standard 25415.

Has anyone ever done training with Safari Centre before, and could they be recommended?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Stuart

Safari Center was recently awarded the tender to conduct training for the Wegry/Drive-out Academy. Their training is done by Allan Goodway, a well known figure in the 4x4 industry. Their training is really worth while.

Hi!

So yesterday I got the opportunity to test out my Lux for the first time off the road! I attended the Basic 4x4 Driver Training, with my 2 "wingpeople", presented by Safari Centre (PTA). What a fantastic day we had, and WOW, what a machine the Lux is! :dance1:

Until yesterday, I had never tested the Diff Lock and was worried that it might not work, but no disappointment there, not a single problem at all!

We all learnt so much from Ben, the instructor. He is extremely knowledgeable and that made understanding all the basics and mechanical workings of the vehicle so much easier! :goodjob: :thankyou:

I will definitely be signing up for the advanced courses in the near future! :yahoo:

Hi Chris,

I am sure if we find dates for training courses, we can put it out to the members that are interested, and they can register for the course. I certainly don't mind. I know for sure I will be going back to Safari Centre to do the Advanced 4x4 Driver Training. I just need to get their dates.
