GTO`s SRX

Post by GTO »

Here are some pics of my 1995 2.4 SRX,I bought it 5 years ago with 44000km on the clock.
I am wanting to upgrade to either a 2.4 SFA or 2.7i IFS Double cab next year but I am definetly going to keep the 2.4 SRX.It is going to retire to my fathers small holding. :D

Only 44,000 km when you bought it? That engine wasn't even run in!

Nice looker, look after it, vehicles in this condition are very difficult to find nowadays.

I now have 188000km on it,the previous owner only used it on weekends!
I paid R 45000 for it. :)
Over the last 5 years I had to replace a water pump, anti roll bar rubber bushes, brake discs, rear brake cylinders, quarter light window frame(rusted I think water collects in there after washing so now I leave them open after washing to dry),also replaced fuel pump(actually turned out fuel filter was blocked).
I also noticed the other day faint brown marks on the bak where the the panels are joined ,I treated it both sides,so I hope I have stopped any further rust.I have noticed quite a few old shape hiluxs here in Cape Town with rust on the joins on the bak.
My biggest worry is it being stolen, because the chances of finding another one like this one are slim.

Talk about it. Today As I was driving on the highway the Platjero started to sluk and backfire. I immediately realised but this is an emty tank. The heavy offroad consuption of the weekend ( I got 5.4 on this tank compared to the normal 6.9 ave) or something screwed the computer's brains around, since the fuel light did not come on, the gauge showed it to be just above empty and the computer told me I had 20kms to go. But at the filling station she took 135 liters into her 127 liter (90main +37 auxiliary) tank :? :? :? .

I had a case with the BMW at one stage as well where the gauge and trip meter was not showing correctly and BMW at that stage told me it had something to do with the fuel I used. Maybe Justin knows about it.

Jip its caused by the high sulpher content in our fuel which causes surface carosion on the rub strip :( Happens plenty on the X5`s
