Haven't posted pics as I have recently been told by a friend that the bakkie seems to have been in an accident. The saleslady told me ONLY the bumper had been replaced when I asked if it had been in any accidents or panel beated in any way.

I am busy trying to find out exactly what my rights are with regards to returning the vehicle, cancelling the deal and getting my deposit back from the dealer. If you are knowledgable on this subject please feel free post your opinion, any help or advice would be appreciated.

For the time being, on monday next week I have a day off so will be taking it to the AA for an inspection on the bodywork. This way I can at least go back to the dealer with something solid.
So much for "reputable" dealers backed by manufacturers!!!!

A day of happiness quickly turned into total disappointment and a lot of stress :(

Welcome to the Forum Paul

Take it to the AA for a checkup, and accident report

Now IF there is proof of a previous accident, more than the sale sperson led you to believe - then this can be an interesting case to test the new consumer act ....

HOW you go about this I have no idea. PLEASE keep us posted.

If you bought it on a HP agreement (paying it off) then you have a cooling off period (I think it's only 14 days) in which you can return the vehicle for a full refund. If you paid cash, that option falls away and you would have to pursue it on the merits of the case, but that could become a civil court matter and could turn out to be very costly for the loser. If the vehicle has indeed been in an accident, you already have a strong case of misrepresentation.

First step is the AA report. Get that done and see what their assessment is. Then approach the seller with your concerns, the report and demand your money back. You might get lucky and they capitulate immediately, otherwise you have to go the legal route. Perhaps you can enlist the services of the legal aid board ... depends on your income whether you qualify. ;-)
