Hi Frans,

Welcome to a bit of home! Lots of South Africans seem to be working in Iran. One possible advantage springs to mind - the price of petrol must be next to nothing. What a pleasure!

Hi Eric

Thanks.Ja till about 2 months ago petrol was cheap cheap. The goverment pushed the price up to a
dollar.Even though Iran is rich in oil & gas they export it to other countries with refineries and then
import it again which pushes up costs. There is also a restriction on quantity of fuel the people can
buy - 3 litres for a normal guy & 10 litres for people with permits, like taxis for example and that is per day.

cheers

Working for Sasol has its advantages - for us back here at home!

I bought my 87 SFA Hilux from a chap in Sasolburg who was sent to China for a three-year contract. If it wasn't for this, I wonder if I would own a SFA today? Probably, but I never regarded it as a necessity (then! But I do now! )

Peugeots & Pykans (the old box shaped Hillman) very popular in Iran.In the capital city Tehran you get some other models.I'm right on the Persian Gulf where it's quite primitive.

Hi Frans,

Amazing scenery! I thought Iran was always just one big desert, but there is a lot of greenery evident in your photos.

Soooo.... do the South Africans outnumber the Iranians yet?

Hi F.D

No ways,we're in total on the Sasol project about 25.In Tehran there are some mtn & embassy people.
The communication with the Irani's are difficult.Thats why a project of 24 months are nearing completion
after nearly 5 years.Ek is eintlik gatvol vir die plek maar nou ja,nie meer lank nie.

Cheers
