Howsit Going...
Hey Guys,
My Name is Ryan, friends call me Thomo. I am originally from Cape Town but am currently in the 7th year of a 3year plan in London, UK...
I currently drive a FZJ80 Landcruiser running on 37" KM2's and a long travel suspension setup. Current lift is 4", shocks are 12" Fox 2.0 Remote resi units. I have been playing around with the valving a fair bit and seem to have found a good tune.
This is the 80:
I was searching for info on 3UZ conversions and came across a couple of threads on this forum. I have just started collecting bits to put a 3UZ into a swb 70 series Landcruiser.
This is the 70 (It sat in a barn for a few years... ) but made for a good deal.
This is the motor going into it...
The plan is to built this up to compete in the European Ultra4 series so plenty of work ahead of me!

Re: Howsit Going...
Thanks for the welcome guys. The 80 has been a slow build, I've had it for over 5yrs now and little by little I built it up into what it is now. The 70 will no doubt be a slow build also. I'm looking forward to learning from what you guys on this forum are up to.
Cheers
Ryan

Welcome Ryan, Good looking 80 you have there!
That 70 is in fact a the pre runner to the prado!(Also known as the "Light Duty Cruiser") Should have coils springs all the way round and has a very comfortable ride. It also shared many spare parts with the hilux. Carefull with the 3UZ and the diffs!
I have the 70 Heavy Duty Cruiser and love every minute of it.

Re: Howsit Going...
Hey Knuppel,
Your lucky to have the heavy duty version. They aren't available here. Once I have the 3UZ up and running I'll be swapping out the axles for Patrol (Y61) axles. Seems they are the toughest out there for still reasonable money. I was considering running 80 series axles but from speaking to a few guys that compete the Patrol ones are supposed to be tougher...

Unfortunately the Patrol differentials are tougher than the cruiser ones. Keep us posted, would very much like to follow your build.

Re: Howsit Going...
Once I start making a bit more progress I could start a build thread here, is that OK considering it's not Hilux related?

Hi and welcome Ryan!
Of course you can do a build thread here, we wouldn't have it any other way!

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
