Hi To all
Hi there everyone.
I'm Jason, and soon to be Hilux owner (flying to fetch it on Sunday).
This was after much deliberation, and I would like to say that the comments, feedback, articles and advice on this forum were the single biggest help in the decision.
Cheers
Jason

Heading down to George (I am in Cape Town) on Sunday. It's a factory standard pretty much everything, 1991 2.2L, with about 100K on the clock! My first Toyota, although drove quite a few for work. Previously been Series 2 and 3 Landies, and currently an SJ410. Seems I can't get away from solid axles!

Welcome Jason! If you're into off-roading, you're gonna be looking for an SFA sooner or later .... sooner is better (and with a mere 100k on the clock you are fortunate to have come across such a lucky find). ..... and of course, like everyone's saying, pics are always welcome too.cockroach9999 wrote:Heading down to George (I am in Cape Town) on Sunday. Re: Hi To all
Well, pics to follow once it stops absolutely pi**ing it down here in Cape Town.
Arrived yesterday in Knysna to collect, and had a good chance to look at the vehicle before the now previous owner arrived with the keys.
A couple of very slight pinpricks of rust in a couple of spots will need sorting out, but apart from that, bodywork is sound, straight and original.
Having a poke around underneath, was glad to find he hadn't steamcleaned the chassis or anything. leading me to believe nothing to hide. No oil leaks on anything beyond a very slight sweat on the front right. Engine bay the same, with a new radiator after the last died of old age. I guess to be expected after 18 years, I recently had the same with my zook.
Inside, apart from the bench seat upholstry is almost pristine. Couple of minor things, such as the inside light cover has disintegrated with age, becoming brittle.
As promised, just under 100k Km's on tht clock. I managed to tick over the 100K mark on my way back to Cape Town, unfortunately couldn't get a camera out and operating in time for that milestone event.
Good run back from Knysna, took it slow and easy, between 90 and 110, and got a shade over 9 k's per litre, which I understand is pretty good for the 2.2. No rattles, knowcks, problems except for the vibration in my feet after I stopped at home. THat took about 30 minutes to dissappear!!
Have a couple of tech questions, but will post later on tech board.
Yee Ha!

Re: Hi To all
Shot, Jason!
The 4Y is a great engine and although not a racing machine, it certainly holds it own when moving that heavy body & chassis, more so after an EFI conversion. Bulldog has covered 313,000km and has nary a rattle anywhere, these vehicles were very well put together.
Looking forward to the photos of your "new" baby!

At least the lux has working wipers and no leaks, which is more than I can say for the SJ!
