Legend 35 D/cab 2004 - Sluggish on hills
Hi All
My vehicle (Legend 35 d/cab 4X4 2004) is extremely sluggish on the incline. I am experiencing this since I bought it +/- 2years ago.
Also very "lui" in sand.
Any advise please?

Mine is also sluggish Ridwaan. What size tyres do you have on?
Do you have stuff like canopy, winch, bullbar, etc ?
Is it a 2.7 or KZ-TE?

My 2005 2.7i was also quite sluggish until I had the throttle body cleaned and serviced. It seems to be a bit lighter of fuel and it definitely goes better.

Re: Legend 35 D/cab 2004 - Sluggish on hills
Hi Guys
Thanks for the tips.
Its a 2.7i. Tyres 245/75/15 - Firestone destination A/T. Bakkie also has a canopy.
I fitted a Powerflow exhaust - front to back excluding the manifold - must add a big difference on the straight only.
Have your guys read Willem Grimsell article about the difference between the 4 port and 8 port intake runner - I must add I am really ignorant when it comes to motor machanics.
Has anybody tried it? Grimsell when you on can you please reply?

Yours has the new 4 port head, with these 16v engines you need to keep the revs up, they do lack low rpm torque.

Have the fuel pump pressure checked - if it is too low it will also pull very bad.

Re: Legend 35 D/cab 2004 - Sluggish on hills
I experienced the same problem last year, and because my 2.7, has serious mileage on (480 000), I had some tests done like compression. Eventually took it to Steve's Auto Clinicin Nelspruit. They said it was running very lean, which could damage the engine.
Solution, chip put in, and it was running just like the day I bought her.
Hope it helps.

Hey Guys
Is this the norm with the 2.7's? I always thought they'd be great runners on the open road. Maybe I've just always under-rated my KZ, but I hardly ever need to change down from 5th when doing 120 on an uphill... It needs to be a rather steep hill before I need to go to 4th

Now, where are all the 2.7 advocates always dishing the diesels???

I must say on the straight road she's fabulous - just the hills that get her down.
