Groete

Haven't been on the forum in ages. Just received the newsletter and heard about this. Man, I hate it when I cry! Glad to hear that everybody is on the mend, though. My modest donation for Feb on its way

Eish! Quite a horrific thing to have happen to one, yet it could happen so easily. Praise God for your protection and healing, also that you were at George hospital. (My dad was treated there and they have a very good orthopedic unit).
To all those that supported, well done, its really awesome to see and read about.
This should be published in a leading off-road magazine as a caution to all off-roaders as to how quickly things can go badly wrong on what should be a simple day's outing. Its a wake up call to never pressume and always walk an obstacle.
Thank you Dustydre for the detail, you might well have saved someones life by posting that.

Morning All

Tymme and Zayleigh visited us yesterday afternoon. Zayleigh is cute as always and are doing fine. Tymme went to the doc on Monday and all support structures from her leg has been removed and she is back on her feet again, altough slow at this stage but she is very positive that all will be ok.

Received this mail (and pic) from Andre' ...................

Hi Andy

Forgive me for only responding now. Arno phoned me this morning and told me you guys are planning something for Tymme again and that you were trying to get hold of me, your email got inbetween emails from my facebook ads and I must have missed it somewhere along the line. I remember seeing it at the time but I get approx 30-40 a day many of which require responses , so it gets hectic at stages. Anyway enough excuses from my side , how are you guys doing?

Tymme is doing ok. She had the pins taken out of her arm a couple weeks ago , as well as the external fixations on her leg , which meant she could ditch the wheelchair at last. Her leg has been in a rigid boot type thing that she could put limited weight on together with her crutches. She saw the specialist on 31/10 and they took the boot off. She can now walk without it but needs massive physio etc to get her walking without her crutch. Her ankle is still completely stiff. All in all things are looking up and it is now just time to get over the last bit of inconvenience.

The only bad part is that she lost her job and with the way things are currently finds it difficult to get a job. She used to do waitressing and obviously cannot do that kind of work now. The little one is fine and talks the hind leg of a donkey haha very wise and head strong.

I went back to Bonniedale a week or so ago and took this pic of our accident site. On the sharp left turn looking from the top down is where we left the road , and we rolled right to the bottom next to the river. I was absolutely stunned when I stood up there looking down how far it is to the bottom. You then realise just how BIG the miracle actually was. Needless to say we walked up and back down hahaha. We are going to camp there this weekend......wanna join us??

Anyway Andy once again sorry for the non reply and have a lekker week.

Reagrds to all

Andre Steynbergh

A further reply from Andre' ......... a GTG early next year in the Mossel Bay area with Tymme and Zayleigh in attendance is on the cards. The timing will of course depend on Tymme.

Hi Andy

Hahahaha I didn't even mention the LR as you saw but unfortunately it was the only SUV type 4x4 for under R130K I could afford beside an old Cruiser and then I wouldn't have been able to afford the petrol LOL. One thing is for sure it is the first and the last LR i will ever own. It is a problem child through to the bone, but that is why I know good people like yourselves for backup to get me from point A to B hahaha honestly it's a piece of unreliable #$@*. Comfortable though I must say.

Anyway now that I have wheels again we must realy make a plan and organise the Southern Cape GTG , what do say ?

Thanks again for what you guys are organising for Tymme & Z they really appreciate it as times are really tough here at the moment.

Regards to all the GOOD reliable guys !!!

Resurrecting this old topic...

I have just watched 4x4 Safariroetes on Kyknet TV, and Andre drove this exact same ox-wagon pass. My blood went cold - that is not something I would like to do, knowing of Dustydre's mishap at this exact same spot. read his story below. Watching it on TV was bad enough, experiencing a roll-over here could so easily end with tragic results.

If you get the chance to watch this on Kyknet (bound to be repeated), do so.

Ek dink rond toer grondpaaie en kamp is my voorland.
