Slegte Nuus! Dustydre in Hospital

Re: Slegte Nuus! Dustydre in Hospital
I have just spoken to Brigette briefly ... she is also in hospital, so could not speak for to long. What I could gather is the following ....
Fortunately their kids were visiting the grandparents and were not with them. However they had another couple and a baby in the van at the time. The vehicle was rolled and the baby was flung clear without injury (miracle).
Status:
Andre' ..... 7 broken ribs, broken sternum, internal bleeding with fluid on the lungs and damaged hand. Condition improving but not yet stable enough for the hand op which is due for tomorrow all going well.
Brigette .... Also still in hospital with 4 broken ribs and bruised lungs. Much improved and due to be discharged tomorrow.
Passenger male ..... broken lower back and due to have a back op .... (I think they will probably do a spinal fusion). A long road to recovery ahead.
Passenger female ..... seven breaks between the two legs and some broken ribs IIRC.
Not a nice scenario.

By the sound of it, it seems that it's a miracle that everyone is still alive. I take it the bakkie rolled over several timesMud Dog wrote:I have just spoken to Brigette briefly ... she is also in hospital, so could not speak for to long. What I could gather is the following ....

Tks for all the well wishes guy's we really need it at this stage. I'm just briefly on my friends laptop here in the ward so wont be able to answer any reply's for now. I will early next week post a reply with what exactly happened and hopefully some photo's of my Hilux which was unfortunately completely destoyed in the accident. I will keep you guys posted and yes..........I'm going to have to find a replacement Lux soon. Bought a snorkel and long range tank which haven't even been fitted yet as well as a front ARB type bumper which is arriving this weekend. A real bummer !!!

Andre, just good to hear from you. Good luck on your coming operation. Again, wishes and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery for all 4 of you; recovery of your body is more important than your next future Hilux.

Not good to here/read.
I hope you guys get well soon!!! I also rolled my 4x4 last year on a trail but wasn't injured nearly as bad as you guys. So I only know half the pain you guys are in.
Goodluck and hope you get back behind the wheel ASAP and like the other okes said rather lose your car than your life.

Re: Slegte Nuus! Dustydre in Hospital
Got this e-mail message from Andre' this morning .......
Hi Andy
Million tks for all the well wishes and prayers received from all of the guys. I had my operation last night , so at least my hand has been fixed and should be operational within the next few weeks. Otherwise my lungs are okish , still a bit of moisture evident but that will also drain over the next couple of days. My broken ribs and sternum is the bugger and will take some time to heal , otherwise we are both back at home now , as i was discharged today.
I am adding some photo's i received , if you don't or won't mind posting them and maybe just a bit of an update to let the guys know we are all ok. My friend Andrew who broke his back will be operated on tomorrow at 9 o'clock , and if all goes well will be back on his feet in about 2 days time , which we really hope and pray for. His girlfriend Tymme will also have her last operation tomorrow and will hopefully be discharged by about Wed ,Thurs next week.
I will post something on the forum tomorrow or so.
Keep well Andy and Love to Sheridene
Thanks for all your concern

Absolute wonderwerk.

Truly remarkable :!: Wishing you well and a speedy recovery.
I agree. I'm not the worlds most experienced off roader and some insight into the situation would be really appreciated. Situations like this make you realise that the freedom of packing the family in the van and tackling the next trail must never be taken lightly. Once again, all the best,

Andre

Goeie More Aan Al Die Manne
Ek dink rond toer grondpaaie en kamp is my voorland.
