Wie onthou die Chev Nomad
Ons het die nomad nog steeds,my pa het hom in 1982 gekoop toe ek gebore is,my pa bestuur,regs is my oom,en links is ek toe ek nog jonk was.Hyt n 2.5 met n 36dcd Weber op limmited slip diff nog als lekker gevaarlik.Hy het baie aandag nodig op die oomblik.

Kyk,ons het 7 jaar trug sy engin oorgedoen en hyt nie eers n 1000km geloop nie.wat alles fout is,is asvolg No 1:Vloerplate is deur geroes no 2:Starter sleep as engine warm is no3: Carb is gesluit kort n overhaul en master cilinder moet vervang word,hys nog opi pad ons het seke 4 jaar laas gery met hom,my pa praat davan dat hy wil weer tyd spandeer aan hom.

My pa het n Chev luv gevat (4x4)en hom een van daai Fernza 2.5 4cyl ingesit.

Bastiaan dit was nog die ou nommerplaat gewees CBK.Met n nomad ry jy saam die 4x4's ons het altyd met gaan skiet en hy draai ook lekker skerp.

Used to have one where I worked long ago (1980's) ..... heavy on juice and not a good off-roader, but then I think it was meant to more of a gravel road run-about. We didn't keep it for too long.

I had one as my first car in 1988. Bought it for R450 from a deceased estate. Drove to Plett and back with it. Served me well.

GM het hulle vir die weermag ontwerp in hulle "braaiveis rugby sonskyn" era, hy moes die Jeep vervang.
Ons was betrokke by die evaluasie, die konsep was goed en almal het dit in beginsel goedgekeur totdat ons hulle op die toetsbane gesit het.
Die standaard Firenza voor suspensie en stuurmeganisme was n totale gemors, die eerste een het in minder as n uur gebreek en nog n paar daarna, hulle is afgekeur.
Ons het gedink GM sal n paar verbeterings aanbring en terug stuur, maar hulle het verdwyn. Die lugmag het n paar gekoop en daar het so paar in basisse agter gebly.
Dit was die einde van die "oop jeep" era en weermag het begin bakkies gebruik.

Ek stem saam sy voor suspensie is baie swak,maar daaie 2.5 engine is n kannie dood. Maar wat daas baie memories wat trug kom soos ek na die fotos kyk.Lekker ou da

The same engine as the Eland. Those 2.5 chevs are excellent motors.
