4x4tuna or prado 120
hi guys
this has been discussed on the net .... and i have read a lot of it.....
but i want your opinions...
for about 200-240k .... what would you choose between these 2...
the car would be used everyday by swambo.... 20-40 kms per day
no serius offroading would be done
bots or moz maybe once or twice a year...
wont be towing anything heavy in the next couple of years
swambo has a bun in the oven and my son is 6 yrs old ...have to buy an suv (i am 2,02m tall and about 145kg so a car is not an option)
please let me know
thanx

Prado is always the better bet, more rugged and I would say more capable. Not that the 'Tuna is not capable, indeed it is! But Prado would win as far as overall luxury and comfort is concerned and I should imagine it is probably built tougher as well.

If fuel consumption is not an option the Prado would be my choice.
Space in the Prado is more (larger vehicle and, and, and)
But the prado is heavy and heavy on juice.......

Re: 4x4tuna or prado 120
Not really... PraDog uses no more juice than any of my other Hilux's, in spite of it being heavier... and auto... and a V6. This is even when I occasionally hit the loud pedal, just because it feels so good! :)
I keep records on all my vehicles and it's pretty much the same for them all, between 7 - 8.3km/l irrespective of which vehicle I drive, at a GPS speed of 110-120km/hr.

Prado should give around 6km/l, D4D Fortuner 10+km/l, V6 Fortuner 7+km/l.

Fortuner!!!!!
Bigger is not always better! Mechanics are the same both diesel and petrol, why would you spend R200g more on
a less economical vehicle? Mind over matter....

Re: 4x4tuna or prado 120
I did the exercise a couple of months ago and settled for a 2004 Prado and loving it.
if you look around a bit and not in a hurry you can find a nice 2004/2005 Prado for around R220-R240k.
Both are safe vehicles for mamma and the babies, but I just find the Prado that little more comfortable and better value for money. When you do go off-road it's most capable.
