A couple of weeks ago on E-TV News, they showed that #$%^& shooting a Rhino. The pathetic sounds of pain that the Rhino made really had an upsetting influence on me. Professional hunter? I consider shooting a harmless animal like that a crime and would have loved to see that TOS (Terms of Service prohibit my true explanation of him) also get 40 years as did the Vietnamese who was with him.

Thank you to all the Hilux guys and dolls who did the 'rice run' on Sunday.
Sorry that we couldn't join you, but it's just a tad too far from PE
Anyway, put my name down for another R200. Payment to be done this week.

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
I have had pricing confirmation on the Denkavit Foal = R450 per 15kg bag.
If my maths works out then:
Total collected = R8 510
Cost for rice = R 4000
Balance = R 4 510
At R450 per bag, this means that we can supply 10 x bags
Total = R 4500
Balance = R 10.
I think this was a BRILLIANT effort by the Forum members and you can all be proud of being apart of this - WELL DONE.
Cassie, can you please confirm the numbers, I'm waiting for an invoice for the Denkavit and will forward on.

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
Hi Forumites
We have now managed to sort out th pricing etc for the Denkavit Foal milk powder and with the remaining money we can buy 10 x bags (15kgs each)
Small problem is:
The milk powder is in Roodepoort and needs to get to Sondela.
Is there anyone who is willing and able to collect the milk powder and get it to Sondela.

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
Made the trippie up to Sondela on saturday and delivered the milk powder. Once again the Wildlife Centre was highly appreciative of our contributions.
As we got there things got a little hectic as one of the rangers had gone into the lion enclosure and 3 of the lions had managed to escape - although they are only 6-8 months old, they are quite a handful to catch and get back into the enclosure, but it was fun.
Got to me the littlest of the rhinos ( only about 3 months old), although he was a little shy, he did come out and say "Hi"
Once again - A huge thank you to all of those who contributed and allowed us (Hilux 4x4 Forum) to make a small difference to some animals that seem to be in a never ending loosing battle.
