Rhino Sponsorship for food
Saw this on SA4x4 magazine on Facebook, am sure as the Hilux club we could get together 50 x 10kg bags of brown rice...
SA4x4 magazine
Morning Everybody! Bundu the little Rhino and his two little Rhino friends are in need of some staple (brown rice). Is there anybody that can help out, or who knows of a company that will be willing to sponsor the 50 x 10kg Brown Rice? Please contact the Sondela Wildlife Centre on 014 736 8885 with any donations / sponsorships. Thank you so much! We really appreciate all your help!

We can each buy one bag each buy putting the money into the club account and then I have a contact in Limpopo who is a vet who I am sure would go and buy for us and organise to have it delivered or collected from him ??
What you think....???

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
Hi Guys, I am going to shops at lunch to get a rough idea of price, I have emailed Sondela and told them what we are planning, My girlfriend is a Vet and she has been there, in fact she was yesterday darting a Rhino.....and do all the inoculations and DNA testing and tagging etc.......its a constant fight !!
I know there are plenty of Rhino causes but I like this one because its actually food and we know it will be going directly to source with no money being taken off for admin and other things.
cheers

Guys as Danman has offered to deliver I think its only fair we cover his fuel, its 105km from Pretoria to Sondela, so once we get the 50 bags or more then we can see what we need to add to cover the round trip of 200 km....or otherwise I can see if I can get him a free stay over for 2 or alternatively my Vet Friend Marius Louw who is based in Modimolle (Bos N Wild animal hospital) will gladly deliver. So we can see nearer the time..
I think lets work on R80 for 1 x bag and R155 for 2 bags, is a case of beer !!

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
Now I don't want to talk out of turn here but I worked this out quickly. Just a thought.
Lets say its 250km round trip. Make it R2 p/km equates R500/50 bags = R10.
If we make the price R90 per bag it could cover the rice and the traveling. Possibly an extra bag or 2 of rice as well.

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
Ok HILUXERS....
So we make an impact on their lives for this month....
Then what?????
I say lets step it up a notch.....
While stepping it up we could make a HUGE impact on the safety of these Rhino's
Lets see who REALLY cares out there............
Below is a list that I have started to support these Rhino's EVERY MONTH....
I will put a debit order or a monthly EFT on my account to pay each month to the HILUX club who in return can pay the full amount accross to the Rhino foundation or to these Little Rhinos, this way it is a lumpsum going into the Rhino fund every month....
It does NOT matter how much you can afford or who is giving more than the next...... Its about the Rhinos....
The RULES of this list are as follows.....
The funds may ONLY be used for the RHINO'S!!!!!!
Its that simple....
While we helping the Rhinos we can make a name for the HILUX club as TRUE supporters of the Rhino's
WHO'S IN ON THIS................
You need not put an amount down just as long as you make it a monthly payment that YOU can AFFORD.....
The PLEDGE List.....
1) MOFASA = R100 per month

# 1: need the clubs banking details and the ref for these little rhinos
# 2: Dan, 50 x 10kgs is a lot of bags ( hopefully it'll be way more than that ) so I'm willing to help out with the transporting of the bags if needed. ( my company pays my fuel bill )
# 3: We need to discuss with Sondela if all bags are needed at once or if they'd prefer seperate deliveries - just thinking of the rice going bad while in storage.
# 4: Ask Sondela as to how long 50 bags will support these little guys.

Now you're talking.....If this is acceptable by the powers that be(committee), then I'm definitely in.
As long as the club gets the credit, and as Johno said the funds gets used for that specific purpose.
Ps
I will try and visit Makro this afternoon and see what they can do regarding the price...will keep you updated

I see a convoy forming (with club banners etc. hey cassie)
If Stubs can find out from Sondela what the quantities are that they are looking for and / or frequency then this can become a frequent endeavour if we can realize "Mofasa's" initiative of a monthly contribution.
Instead of a toy run(bikers) we could have a rice run
btw.
I'm also in for R100 p/m

That sounds like a gr8 plan..... One reason i said money contribution is maybe one month it may help towards medication or something else they need urgently.....Danman wrote:I see a convoy forming (with club banners etc. hey cassie)

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
For per month see following list....warthog wrote:I'm in for 5 bags per month. Where and who do I pay to?
MOFASA wrote:That sounds like a gr8 plan..... One reason i said money contribution is maybe one month it may help towards medication or something else they need urgently.....Danman wrote:I see a convoy forming (with club banners etc.
But i still like the sound of a convoy to them.......
Ali3n wrote:Come on guys, 18 bags to go and we hit our target.
The PLEDGE List.....
1) MOFASA = R100 per month
2) CasKru = R100/m
3) smokintyres = R100/m
4) DANMAN = R100pm
5) Ali3n = R100pm
This is the reason i am proud to be part of this FAMILY......
Hiluxers DO CARE........
Maybe we should start a new thread for The PLEDGE List

Re: Rhino Sponsorship for food
By my count (and I had to count to 10 5 times) it seems we are on 56 bags of brown rice
If everyone is fine with it let's make a bag = R80. Then we could maybe buy an ekstra bag of rice with the small change left
