well earlier this afternoon watched the 1st 30min of the Dakar, great fix for my craving

they showed ghetto competitors ghetto favorites i. each class

and a little about the rivalry that already exists

looks like the mini is the most disliked already starting with the hummer guys

not much was said about the hilux

however I was reminded that the hilux raced last year on the 2013 specs
and its been its been improved.

its 14 stages to go :cooldude:

I know that Giniel is a very avid mountian biker, to keep fit and does the odd race.

He posted this morning that he's driving this race in memory of his friend, Burry Stander.

Pic that he has put up inside his Lux.

Go Giniel, Go!

Hope that this race deflates the overblown ego of arrogent Robbi Hunter.

Over one million watched the start of the race, and all we get is a paltry 26 minutes a day for the greatest adventure race in the world.

Surely they can give more about the other contenders. Then there is the back-room boys & girls and the organisation that keeps the race going like clock-work. How do they get water all the food, water etc to the bivouac points? How does the navigation work - considering that many get lost it can't be that simple? What are the costs of such a race?

Wonder if Africa realises just what they have lost when the race moved to South America?

think of this often, and the longer it stays where it is, and the better it is organised in South America the less the chances of it ever coming back to africa!!

then the southern african region as is the norm, did not jump at the opertunity to bring it to sothern africa either!!

before i get carried away . . . . . . . .Geniel can do it!!
he is level headed!! that he has proved over and over!!

It is now nearly improbable to ever return to Africa. They can have mountains, desert, forest, savannah all in one race. The only disadvantage for them is that the time difference for TV coverage in Europe.

Look at the droves of passionate people that you see all along the route.

Sad news...

Duncan Vos and Rob Howie forced into retirement due to their rollcage which suffered damage after they rolled their lux while passing a truck. Sad news but glad they are okay.

That's a bit of a bummer for Duncan and Howie, hope Geniel makes up for the loss.

Amazing power!! I wonder what the tyre pressure is - they probably change it on the fly.

Andre the rules have changed a couple of times - not sure if they currently may inflate the tires on the fly.
