Re: What do you think.... Then and NOW
Thanks for all the positive feed back.
Its gr8 to hear appreciation from fellow hiluxers and diy people out there.......
The winch is a new addition to the van and I had to mod the first bumper I made to make it stronger.
The winch and bumper are held in place with a total of 9 HT bolts.
The original bumper I made December 2012 and the mods took 4 days this December.
The spare wheel carrier took 3 days to make and fit. It was built on the van so it was design and build all in one..
Sorry guys I had pics of the bumper and carrier build but the dam memory card in the camera froze and needed to format it....

Are you sure it is the leafs ? Mine did the same and it was this bracket below the leaf that was changing shape . Remove your front leaf and check the bracket with an straight edge, even a few millimeters make a big difference .
Old man emu use to sell a spacer that is flat on the one side an curved on the other to solve that problem.
I straighten mine, and welded gussets in to prevent it from happening again.

Johno, did you not perhaps mean OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)? My old OME (Old Man Emu) only settled by 15mm after more than a decade of serious abuse.MOFASA wrote:yes I am happy apart from the front leaf springs, they work well but are lying flat like my old OME suspension was.Lollie wrote:Looks great Johno Are you also satsify with your Mikem syspensie like me?
do yours sit flat or are they bowed?

The saddles need to be 100% flat all the way to the ends.
If they only used a hammer chances are that it bend back again. You need to cut slits in with a grinder and re-weld it afterwards .Also weld some gussets to prevent it from happening again.
