:surrender: :surrender: :surrender:

Started working in the early-mid 70's as an appy Hotel manager for R86 / month plus board and lodging. Spurs were something new then, and I can remember getting my occasional junk-food fix at the local one (there was only one in those days) .... they made an awesome double thick malt milkshake. ;-)

Currency was ½, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 cent coins (there were some silver 1 Rand coins in circulation, but very few) - banknotes were R1, R5 and R10. The R2 note only came along later after the R1 note was replaced with a nickel coin. When the R20 note was introduced later still everyone complained about inflation and the diminishing value of the Rand! :D:

Now be careful who you call an old toppie, lest I come whack you with my walking stick!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Good to see that you have a sense of humour about it!  So much better (for you as well) than being all bitter and twisted! ;-)

Reminds me of a client I once had (passed on now), a double amputee (legs) .... at our first meeting he was trying to get from his car into a wheelchair. I stood forward to assist and asked if I could give him a hand. I will never forget, with a big grin he replied "No thanks, hands I've got, it's legs that I need". The man had an awesome spirit, nothing, but nothing seemed to ever get him down, always a ready smile.

nou so bietjie gespeel ....
