Wow! How quickly a week goes by! Hawk has acclimatized to his new home, immediate family and some close family for now. Lot's of sleepless nights on my part, potty training him, and the progress is amazing. Sleeps in a milk crate at night next to my bed getting up every hour and a half or so.

What used to take ten minutes to the Spar, now takes thirty, charming the young and not so young, alike

Going to the vet today to get his chip and check up. But otherwise a healthy, happy and naughty and playful puppy.

Very nice placid dogs, had one, but i prefer terriers.

The love attention and when they are fully grown, they still climb on your lap.

This is my Rottie, Naas.
He is 18 months old and still believes he has to sit on your lap.
The white one is a somthing-x-something pick-up dog.
She is 3 years old but still thinks she is a puppy.

They always get your heart and stay there.

However last puppy that sadly passed away at 9 months
I did all the poty training, this time the wife has done most of it
females are easier to train

and that reminds me to start a thread that I been meaning to start a while

So we all got to meet Hawk this weekend,first dog member to join the Hilux marshalling crew,kept the kids busy for the day so we could go about with our work.

Thank you guys and thanks to Niel's kids playing with him over the weekend, Fundi Challenge and Johnno for the spray

Young man had his weekly wash yesterday, and saw the vet for his first vaccine, next one due in a month, certified healthy and weighing 3.1kg @ 7 weeks.

Learning very fast the house rules and now getting up at night fewer times than in the beginning. Last night was once for a pee.

Now ten weeks old, happy at home now, he is potty trained, dewormed, getting there with more house training. He can now sit, come when called (unless if being naughty or just woken up), and coming along today to the voting station, of course he has no clue about booooma and corruption, Nkandla and etollietjie, but we put an anc scarf on him just for fun. Also had first vaccine.

Honestly speaking I think I should bring him, just for fun, why not?
Maybe make some pouches on the side of his harness to carry treats, etc.
Then you can have you company logo on the pocket

Now on 13 weeks, got second vaccine and second deworm at 12 weeks, last week. I'm still busy with basic training and he learns fast. Fully house trained now, can sit on command, must still teach him to "sit and greet" whenever we have visitors, to stop begging when we're eating, and to let go of unwanted stuff he picks up whenever we go for walks. Even got medical aid for him Paw-paw it's called @ R150/month.

Him being white and such an explorer has seen his weekly baths increased to 2/week, weather permitting though. But otherwise love every second with him, though when he's sleeping it can be a lot more peaceful in the house

Old shoes are donated now to him to stop chewing on stuff in the house and to keep him busy together with his toys.

Took my mom to the mall last week for her weekly shopping, Hawk came with as per norm and was fascinated with little water fountains at the mall

That damn scarf was worrying me, I have to be honest. Anyway, browsing through posts, I came across this topic again and the concern over that scarf set in all over again, so I got to thinking ....

Tumelo's dog sleeps about 20 hours a day. He has his food prepared for him.
He can eat whenever he wants. His meals are provided at no cost to him.
He visits the doctor more than once a year for his checkup, and at any time medical needs arise.
For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.
He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.
He makes no contribution to the running or maintenance of the house. If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.
He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.
He receives these facilities absolutely free.
He is living like a king, and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever.
All of his costs are picked up by others who go out, work hard, and earn a living every day.
I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick in the head...

I think his dog is an ANC Cabinet Minister.

At almost twenty weeks now, weighing about 11 kg (can't stand still on the scale

), now sleeps throughout the night, no need to get up anymore, had an accident last night on the carpet (after a really very long time, impressed). Thinking of getting some kinda alarm for days when he has a loose stool. By the time I heard him, he was already from the dining area carpet

He's also a lot stronger, our 5km walk takes shorter, and has running in between. Hmmm, I found a reliable running partner now

What are your thoughts on Bob Martin supplements, a lady at the pet shop said they were actually bad for him

Doubt they're actually bad for them, we used to give them to our dogs when I was a young pup. Having said that, I personally am not a firm believer in things like multi-vitamin tablets for humans either. I just think you should rather be getting the necessary vits the way that Nature intended, not in the form of tablets.

Tumelo Tumelo, weigh yourself first. Then pick up the dog and get on the scale holding the dog. Subtract your weight from the weight of you while holding the dog, then you will have the dogs weight.

21 weeks this Saturday, weight 12 kg, enjoys Eukanuka very much and I'm happy with him. That said will stop with Bob Martins, not because of anything else, but the fact that all his vitamins/minerals are in his food

They are so adorable when they are pups... then they get brains and start digging up your garden, chow everything and produce land mines the size of small mountains... but you still love them! After you almost killed them

If you have a pool, beware, they love to swim... especially when you are in there too

The digging has started already, brought a few grass stems into the bedroom on Sunday, chewed on cellphone chargers, and the last straw was chewing on the electric blankie cord, which I forgot to pack away, CupCakes is still not impressed. Chewed on two of her books too, her fault for leaving them where he can reach

He makes a lovely companion though and I enjoy my walk/runs with him to bits. He can easily do about 5km now, but after that admitts himself to the ICU (his bed) for a few hours afterwards, only lifting his ears a bit if there's movement.

You have to get him out of the habit of chewing things now before it's too late. Two main reasons besides the resultant damage .... he's more easily taught when he's young and second, he's already chewed on a cable - imagine it's 220v live!
