A nostalgic era!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Also had a Splittie, 1100cc converted to 1600cc and also into a Camper van. After being hounded forever and a day by a bloke who wanted it, I eventually sold it to him
Then I had the version 2 Kombi. two of them. One yellow with white roof, one blue with white roof. One was 1700cc and I think the other was 2000cc, not sure right now.
My last VW was a 412 station wagon, fantastic luxury in a standard vehicle!

Re: If you ever owned a Kombi-Have a look
In the 80's I had a 1977 2.0 Panelvan Kombi. Spare wheel on the nose, wind surfers in the roof, bed in the back and a "don't laugh, your daughter might be inside" sticker on the back....
Boy if that bus could talk!! It was also my first "4x4" and overlander... We used it to go fishing at Die Damme, and drove along the beach on it as far as it would go... Many an overlanding trip with 1000's of dirt road km's were done in that van... I towed a Venter trailer and had a tent that connected to the side of the Kombi as well. It was wired for 220v and 12V on the inside... Unfortunately I have no pictures left... somewhere along the line they all got lost...

Ahhhh man! I grew up with a 411 and a 412. The 412 1700cc station wagon was one of the first fuel injection Volkswagens. It became my first car when I was in matric, and then carried me through 6 varsity years. I travelled with students, fully loaded, down to Plett, to Umhlanga, Bloem...the whole bloody country...it truly was a trustworthy vehicle. Very potent heater system it had!
Many good memories of my old stationwagon...

Re: If you ever owned a Kombi-Have a look
I have owned 15 VW's over the years and have had very very little trouble with all or any of them.
I had a Beetle that broke 3 release bearings, and a GTi 16V that, for some reason, just did not want to stay on the road (made 2 accidents with it ) For the rest of them, the Kombi included, I never had a day's trouble!
