Gesondheidsdoeleindes.....

Open valve first to relieve any possible pressure, remove the valve (think it's a left hand thread), fill bottle with water and start cutting. The water will dispel any vapours, but also takes care of any residual flammable material. Same with fuel tanks. ;-)

I have a couple of braai 'spits' that I used to hire out, used to go through a lot of ½ drums, but then used the internal tanks from old geysers as mentioned above ..... works very well and lasts a very long time.

Best thing yet is a liquid Nitrogen container. Big, double walled, 8mm stainless steel. If you bug Afrox enough they might let you have one.
Happy trails

Huh! .... Eish! What an anticlimax! We were expecting a follow up thread (with pics) on the acquisition of a scrapped geyser / 48kg gas cylinder and the steps / stages of the cutting thereof before mounting on the barrow!!

1999 - I make the following braai -

large gas cylinder, cut as per the photo below.
keeping the heat of the coals for the braai.
coal maker
and an area for the potjie
even a little rack for the braai items

and so life throws us curve balls ....

DSCN1659 (Small).JPG

2001 - we buy a new house - with an outside and inside braai - give the braai to a friend.

2008 - we move again - across the road from my friend I gave the braai to.

2014 - I help him build a braai area, he had a builder for the larger work, we did the finishing touches. And now he no longer needs the braai

he gives the braai back to me ..... sand it down and paint it again.

low and behold, the current braai grids are WIDER than in 1999 !!

so time for a slight modification ...

guess we will be enjoying an outside braai this December :)

Chris, Cut another two evenly spaced notches higher up on the left side and weld corresponding lugs on the right hand side, then the braai can be set in three different positions for the required heat you need for your meals being prepared...

not needed :)

because of the 270 degree metal wrap around the grid the heat is EVEN all over :) :)

you play with the amount of coals to fine tune the heat :cooldude:

really works NICE !!
