Andy, I have a fairly recent Panasonic FZ5 camera which is excellent, but my old Sony Cybershot 2.3Mb that I bought in 1998 or thereabouts certainly doesn't stand back for it. Mind you, it was the top of the range Sony at the time, set me back plenty of moola! But it still takes excellent photos, never a moment's trouble.

Hi Eric. It's as you say, new today and old hat tomorrow. My 'dinosaur' cost me close on 6k in the late 90's, again as you said, a lot of moola, but it was the best I could get at the time, An HP 912 but with a Pentax lens and a lot of useful features that were normally only found with more professional units at the time. Als never a moment's trouble.
I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now but the choices are a little confusing. Have to sit down and weigh it all up properly some time.
