Speaking of Speed Limit Devices. My UK friends tell me of the "Average Cameras" they are using in the UK. Camera one takes a nice pic of you doing 120 on the N1. Now, camera 2, 120km's away takes another picture of you doing 120. It then calculates the time it took you between 1 and 2. And if it took less than an hour you are seriously busted.

This was in a test phase in Jhb some time ago. Don't know the outcome but I see the N1 outbound already has the thin wire across the road.

These cameras are also used in KZN, on the highway between PMB and DBN.
It's over shorter distances though. It uses number plate recognitioning software, and minimum fine is R700.
