Swaziland for touring ?
Is it worthwhile to go there, safety, scenery wise ? Is it adviseable for going solo on the countryside and offroad routes ? Anybody being that way recently ?

hi everdt, my wife lizzy was born and grew up there so we go back fairly often also live close by. if you have not been yet you must go, it is a small country with mountains in the western highlands and open savannah in the east. very well run game parks, white owned farms and black owned private land the rest belongs to the govnt operating on the chief system so always good to ask permission, beautiful scenery ,4x4 needed in most places you feel like you are in SA money has same value they like rands but don't bring any elangeni back to SA, fuel was the same price last time in may 2011, watch out during Jan and Feb hotter than the inside of a horse. they have a serious drinking and driving problem always road blocks Friday and Saterday. we like the northern part around piggs peak and mhume, the mbuluzi valley is good take your T4A with you cheers deane

the nkosi's house is usually near the turn off and will always have a car parked outside, lizzy speaks siswati (similar to zulu) makes it easy, we do it mainly out of politeness probably not really needed, the locals are a freindly bunch very helpfull, rural swaziland is the same as travelling in SA. cell phone coverage in northern swazi is poor
