Namibia Meat Ban

Post by Wapper »

Hi
Does anybody know what is the latest on the meat ban? Planning to go there end of this month but can’t get a hold of customs. Seems they are using the same service delivery module as SA

Have you tried the Nam tourism board? They usually get back to us.

On the other hand, Nam meat is good and quite a bit cheaper than ZA

Which border post are you going through?

I did not know about the meat ban and took my steak with, nobody asked anything.

The other part of the crowd came in via Upington and their story are very funny.
The one guy's wife hided the frozen meat between the blankets that was on the rear seat.

So the guys at border checked in the vehicle but Tony did not realise that one packet of meat slit out of the blankets and fell onto the floor.
So the Namibian border official checked it out and asked him "And this, why is your meat not in the fridge?"
So he spin him some story and put it into the fridge, no problem.

Guess it just depends on who is checking the vehicle and IF they do check your vehicle

Neil, on the Noordoewer / Rosh Pinah road there is a super market about 1km from the Engen garage, I did not check the meat prices, also not sure what quality of meat you will get there.

The SPAR in Karasberg had lekka lamb chops (rib chops) for R55/kg in Oct last year - the place looks closed but trust me....she's open for business - definitely stop there...

Wha Ha Ha Ha
