When we went to NAM in June - we were told upfront to have papers for insurance, but were never asked for it. I believe in being prepared rather than having pains at the border in any case.

Where are you going? Also NAM?

Hi if you want to come to Moz you can by Third Party Insurance from Global Alliance (GA) at the border. It cost R150 for your car and i Think R75 for the trailer. BOTH ARE COMPULSORY - so even if you have cover in SA you still need to buy 3rd party insurance.

The 3rd party will cover you - like the name says - if you are the cause of an accident for the OTHER persons loss/damage. You will not have cover for your own vehicle/trailer for this. SO if you want comprehensive cover for your trailer you need to acquire that in SA and make sure you are covered in MOZ (same goes for your car - you need to inform your insurer you are traveling cross border). I would however not worry about the trailer - JUST GET THE 3RD PARTY AT THE BORDER

(I stay in Moz so if you have more questions feel free to ask!)
