So by chance a buddy called me who had to offload a boat that he bought while is was at the pub

He does not really have a use for it as he already has a boat, so I offered to help him out

I need some advice from the guy's that knows better, what is a good product to use to clean the pontoons? I saw on a website they recon One Step Floor polish, Pledge & Johnson works well. And to remove tough stains I should use a bit of lacquer thinners and polish up again.

Any other advice will be great, for now I will redo the wiring on the trailer and paint it, get the COF sorted and get the engine serviced.

Not sure if it's acceptable to use thinners - personally I would steer clear of using any form of solvent. Last thing you want is for the material to perish / weaken prematurely and have a leak.

That was my thought too. I will redo the pontoons i time to come, but for now I just want to give it a good clean, service and COF. Then go play.

Wayne, that boat belongs in Cape Town dude... in fact I have the perfect boat garage for it (empty)...

BTW... it looks in really good nick! Yes... I'm a little jealous!

Use Handy Andy and Kleen Green - works very well on the pontoons. I use it on mine. Scrub with a soft nylon brush. Stay away from solvents. Seams are glued together and solvents dissolve it. And try to store it in the shade.

Also test your baffle's inside the pontoon. Deflate only one section of the pontoons.If all the sections deflate then start pumping it up.If all of them inflate than you have a leak between the sections and it is advisable to get this repaired then.
