Difference between the R150F and R151F transmission

Post by ronnie »

I am not sure if any of you have seen the thread on the Land Cruiser Club website where a number of people have raised the issue of problems with the R151F transmission that the 1HZ Cruisers come out with. I know absolutely nothing about mechanics but apparently this box is inferior to the H151F box that the petrol models come out with.

So I check on http://www.toyodiy.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and see that the Fortuner 4.0 V6 comes out with a R150F box and I wonder whether this box is the same as the R151F. Anyone know??

Hi Ronnie,
What is the issue with the R151F box? I am planning to fit the R151F to my Lexus V8 and it's VERY expensive!
I would think that the R150F box ratios will be different. I will see if I can get the specs on both.
We use 20 Land Cruisers in Angola (very harsh environment) with the R151F boxes. So far we did not have any gearbox issues.

Hi Jaco

Some guys have been complaining about premature failure of that box in the 1HZ, many of them were vehicles that did not tow. But, as with all these things there are even more people who swear there is nothing wrong with the box

Met geweld kan jy jou vinger in jou h%l afbreek.

Don't accelerate in 5th from low speed, don't tow in 5th and don't use in town, then it should not gives problems.
