Post by Stephen22 »

Good day all.

I am new to the forum, I happened to stumble on the forum whilst googling picture of fortuners.
I do have a question, my fortuner is a 2008 V6 4.0L automatic, that has Old Man Emu suspension, front ARB bull bar with a T-Max winch, after market exhaust, tyres are 265/65 16inch BF Goodrich all terrain. With all the added weight on the car I get 5.5km/L doesn't matter what I do that's the fuel consumption I get. Is this normal with all the mods?

Welcome to the Forum Stephen. Without pictures, you do not own anything on this forum & are just being curious. Post some photographs of your ride & await the responses to your questions.
From other threads on the forum, I can tell you that, your vehicles consumption depends mainly on the size & weight of your foot, on the excelerator. There are some people getting your type of consumption, which is considered to be a bit on the heavy side, then there are those getting about 7.5 Km/l. That engine is powerful enough for those mods not to make any significant difference to your consumption. Some sort of advice will be forthcomming. I have the diesel model, so am also just chatting.

Welcome Stephen hope you enjoy it here. Your consumption is steep me thinks, something I'm sure you'll look at. Good luck.

Welcome Stephen!  Nice 'Tuna' !! ;-) Ja, that 4 lit is thirsty! As mentioned, remove the catalytic converters (if not already done) and set your air gap, i.e. about 1mm between the pedal and your right foot (adapt your driving style) :D:

Enjoy the vehicle and the forum.

Maybe a good idea will be to put my fortuner on the dyno and let them test the fortuner, maybe at a place like Steve Auto Clinic.
My next modification is a snorkel and another fuel tank, my only problem is the distance between filling up so I would like maybe a 170L of fuel I have a 100L tank and would like to fit an extra 70L. Im hoping it can be done.
