Sorry, Nic, really hope you get it back!
Seems all the gangsta's have left paradise and gone to DA country instead - this is the 3rd one on this forum alone in the WCape in a short time!

jammer om te hoor, sit 'n foto op sodat ons kan sien waarvoor om uit te kyk. Hoekom kan die die tracking company nie die hilux opspoor nie?

They tracked it to a chop shop in Wynberg at 1500 today but I only realised that it was gone when I left university at 1730 this afternoon. The SAPS have been there but it is gone. They have some people in for questioning.

Don't have an up to date picture, sorry. It is a white '97 DC, with a grey framed steel canopy with alu treadplate doors. There are no stickers/stripes on it. It has a bull bar and a towbar. The tail gate has a small silver Toyota logo from a Corolla and no large TOYOTA sign. Brand new BFG A/Ts with only 800km on.
Happy trails

Maybe we can make the investigating officer in your case aware of Oom Leon's Hilux which was stolen last week Wednesday

I will do so. And by the way thanks for the speedy service in getting all those parts to me Piet, it would just be nice if I had a bakkie to put them into still. It does mean that I have a free weekend now.

Look at the bright side, you still got your toys because you did not have time to install it

Ja Cassie, there are so many other nice bakkies they can steal, why bother with our old Hiluxes.
Go steal brand new other brand vehicles.

Nic had one of our fleet management units in his bakkie as part of our testing. It's designed more for trucks than recovering stolen vehicles so it's much easier to locate inside the bakkie than a SVR unit. Also works on GPS and cellphone, not the recovery frequencies. I saw that this is where they made the first stop from stellenbosch after they stole it: http://goo.gl/maps/BZi3y" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is where we got the last position from the unit: http://goo.gl/maps/SbQCU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The cops were there as well as one of our recovery teams. Didn't find anything. They had 3 hours alone with the bakkie before Nic realised it was stolen... :evil:

This is the only photo I have of his bakkie:

The worst part about it is that the SAPS tell me that they know it is a chop shop that specialises in bakkies like mine and they don't do ANYTHING about it. Makes my blood boil. Really want to take a shotgun and pay them a visit.

Did they say where the chop shop is?

Sometimes they are busy rounding up the bigger fish that is why they don't do anything. So they use our vehicles as bait to lure in the bigger fish and only act once they can get the main peanuts. But it is sad that they use our vehicles to make their job easier.

Constable N Beja at Stellenbosch SAPS (0834899683), is the investigating officer, haven't been able to get hold of him all day. Hopefully it means he is out finding these bastards and terminating them with extreme prejudice.

I'm trying to get hold of the other guy's who have had theirs stolen in the last month or so in the Cape, maybe if we pool information we can make some headway, chances are they were all stolen by the same people.

If anyone knows who they are, ask them to contact me via pm, email (nicholaslemaitre (at) gmail (dot) com), or on my cell Zero 72 four nine 2 five 3 1 five.
