Some background...perhaps there is someone knowledgeable on the forum that can assist?

Purchased in 1964 by my Granny as a demo model in PTA - pale blue in colour.

This car is not restored, it is the way it was back in 64. Everything is still original and in tact.

I should then perhaps say that is is in excellent condition, considering that it is 54 years old.

Licences, all up too date. Original motor etc.

Starts the way a beetle starts, and runs like a beetle.

Any ideas on value?

Only basic info being shared here, so one would only comment by making a basic call. No photos of exterior or interior. But judging by your text only, maybe R16k.

Uhhmmm, spoke to a company in CT selling a restored, number matching 1963 for R175k. They felt, since mine is number matching and unrestored, I could look at R200k.

BTW, the classic combies from that era go for R350k and upwards

get hold of the guys in the UK, you will be amazed what they would offer

If you got an old split window in good condition you could get close to 5 mil in Europe.

Ok. So got hold of the VW owner forum for Beetles. It is indeed worth a fair amount of money.

Suggest you guys hang on to those SFA's for another 40 years or so and stop modifying them.

We're all curious of course, so don't leave us hanging ........ quantify "a fair amount".

Well, I haven't advertised it yet but have three offers on the table this morning. Best one so far is R85k.
