Recently bought yaris 1.3 sedan

Needs 135k service done.

Toyota says it does not need spark plugs for 135k?

Also some confusion about oil to use.
Toyota says 15w40 (could i use delo i use for hilux?)
Others say 5w30... others 10w40 ???

Then Midas says it a lifetime fuel filter? It apparently inside tank??

so i been reading thru the manual ...

in there is says 20w50 or 15W40 API SL/SM multigrade.
So i assume delo 400 meeting the 15W40 API SM multigrade requirement?

For the Fuel filter and spark plugs, i'm confused.
The manual list service schedules every 10K for various items, but the service book says every 15K.

for fuel filter and spark plugs ,manual says replace every 40K.
So i'm assuming both that done with the 120K service... will confirm with garage who stamped the books.
but going foward... how does one manage this?

I normally worked on 10K , oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs.
but now, assuming it was changed on 120K, next would be on 160K.. but my service schedule runs 135K, 150K, 165K

according to manual, oil and oil filter change needs to be done every 10K.
eish... keeping tracking of all this ... i will need to write an app LOL.

Should i just go the every 10K route?

I think you'll be safe to follow the logbook at every 15 thousand k's. Also less confusing. :winkx:

Delo 400 is actually an oil intended for diesel engines but you can use it in the petrol Yaris.

Yes Mars, I was worried about that.. I thought it's for diesel engine.

But then i read the specs in manual, and it seemed to be OK on paper.
And on the bottle it says for diesel and petrol engines.

And if both yaris and hilux use the same oil... well then i can buy two 5 liters and it should just about cover both vehicle... maybe with a 500ml topup.. less wastage.

But when you say "intended for diesel engines" ... I'm thinking... mmmm, maybe not.

i do oil every 15000km air filter and most time plugs but any good multi grade will work but remember the 2nz motor has a small pickup in the sump.

No it simply has additives to neutralise the acidity which tends to form in diesel engine oil over time so it will be good in the Yaris.
