Hi all

I have decided to get a national luna kit and install myself.
A few questions though:

1: what size battery do I need to get a/hr?
2: Has anyone managed to fit above batery into bonnet of d4d? looks like there is space behind normal one but not sure?
3: can you buy mounting plates for the bottom of battery to mount onto body work of vehicle in bonnet-body work slopes slightly and I assume batery should be flat.

Luke, get one as large as can possibly fit. And get the same type of battery, i.e. High Cycle, not a Deep Cycle battery.

Luke, do a search on battery systems and you will find a hive on info.

The debate of whether to go high cycle or deep cycle is a long one but the basics are that if you want a battery that takes a quick charge but cannot be discharged too low, then high cycle is for you. If you want a battery that takes charge slower but can be discharged to almost empty (as batteries go) then deep cycle is for you.

As for size, 105Ah is the norm but I dont know how much sopace is under your bonnet to fit it in there.

I dont know if there are any pre-made brackets for such things yet. Perhaps get hold of Charlie Brown, and see if he can make something up for you? Check the shopping index for details.

Fitted a 105A in the Fortuner(same as the bakkie). U need to move the silver electronic box close to the hinge(not surewhat it's called), and loosen the fuse box to get the battery in. Tight fit, but fits. Also make sure that you have a strong enough bracket supporting the battery which is quite heavy.
I have seen a lux where the wheel arch has been badly damaged due to weight of the battery. Obviously he did some heavy driving!

Brackets you can get from spares places like Midas, they have a few. Find one that will suit your battery. 'Tuna' is in for clutch again(for a couple of days...)
