Yes wheel rims do crack, this has been discussed before many times, this rim that you see in the photo cracked in two places, it comes off a Toyota Hilux 2wd bakkie at work, this rim is one of the local manufactured ones, they cannot take the punch of The Transkei roads between Queenstown and Durban.
This is why I bought the rims for my Hilux from America, they cost me R800. each which sounds like a lot of money, the rim in the photo costs about R200. each.
The American rims can handle rock crawling, they are like the ones that Riceburner is selling.
