IFS Front Recovery Point??

Post by warrenaken »

Hi All,
I have for some time been trying to get decent front recovery point on the front of my KZTE. As i have the Intercooler and hi-lift jack points space is limited. Everyone i have been to has said a replacement bumper is the only option, so i need your help.
Currently i sit with 2 plans, please could you comment or suggest other options. Much appreciated.

Option 1: Make sure the nudge bar is bolted on with high tensile bolts (blue) and the bolt recovery hooks onto the side of the nudge bar bracket.

Option 2: get a frontrunner type recovery point (just longer) and bolt it directly to the chassis between the nudgebar mounting. I would need to cut a small portion of the white bumper if it is to remain straight.

Option 3: your suggestions?

Option 1
Option 1

All new IFS vehicle's from Toyota had a recovery hook in the same place as your option one. The only difference is that it was fitted with the hook facing downwards and was bolted to directly to the chassis over the nudge bar bracket.

This is the way I will opt to go as I was standard fitment. Maybe some IFS owner with the STD front end can post a picture for you to see.

Ek sou opt vir opsie twee. Jy wil graag he dat die recovery punt direk op die chassis is

Perfect. You can make it shorter as well. It does not need to protrude part the bumper as long as it is lower than the bumper

Hi you all
I have pondered on this subject for quite a while now and came up with a solution for my front recovery point problem. I integrated it as part of my winch bucket , had to do some re modeling of the winch bucket but it came out quite good and practical (Still have to do some final maintenance on the winch before putting it all back)
Look at the photos and give me your thoughts
The idea is to use both hooks simultaneously with a short brace

Okkie dit is regtig netjies gedoen maar nou gaan jy teen n hoek trek wat stress op plekke sit wat nie so sharp is nie, persoonlik so ek die hakke reguit voorentoe laat kyk het. :thankyou: M2cw

The idea is to use both the hooks at the same time, connecting a short bridle end to end to the hooks forming a triangle inline with the hooks normal pulling line thus utilizing the strength of both hooks
2008201.JPG
The sides that bolt to the chassis are 6mm and the back plate that bolt to the cross beam is 8mm thick.

At last and if I may say so a job well done
All that’s left now is to test the "VLAKVARK" teeth and see how they perform

VLAKVARK-3.jpg
PS.
Now I have to make a plan at the back as there are no recovery points at the back yet
any suggestions from you people ?

Okkie, nice winch plate

I have had 2 cruiser points bolted and welded onto the back bumper as well as the bumper itself reinforced onto the chassis. Used with a bridal it had done some tough work.
